Crown Computing has signed an agreement with the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) to provide a flexitime system for its Library employees; the system will allow Library employees to book holidays and request flexi time online. The deployment of Crown’s Open Options system will enhance the newly implemented flexitime programme which was put into place for all Library staff in 2008 ensuring that all the transactions are now reported and authorised electronically from their desk top PC’s. The web based, employee self service facilities will eliminate paperwork from the process of requesting holiday, flexitime or any other absence requests, with line managers giving electronic approval, through the systems internal mail facility. Following an extensive review of the various systems offered within the UK market, LSE selected Crown as its preferred vendor. “We chose to work with Crown Computing as it provided us with a very cost effective solution that had full employee self service facilities,” said Helen Cocker, User Services Manager in the Library. “The new system will mean that we can reduce administration and give accountability for staff requests and time off to departmental managers decentralising the current system.” The system is scheduled to go live in Summer 2009. “We’re very pleased to be working with LSE to implement Open Options for its Library staff in line with its new flexitime programme introduced in 2008,” said Mike Hawkesford, Managing Director, Crown Computing.
